Trimble no longer sells the ProXR/XRS with the MC-V since the release of their own datalogger, the TSC-1. However, you can still obtain a recent version of Asset Surveyor for this unit. Get the most recent version of Asset Surveyor™ for the MC-V The MC-V (MC-5) is manufactured by Corvallis Micro Technology in Corvallis, Oregon. Trimble sold this datalogger with the Pathfinder Professional, the ProXL and the ProXR before manufacturing their own unit, the TSC-1. It is an environmentally sound unit complete with an internal heater for use in extremely cold climates. Following are some common questions and answers about the MC-V (MC- 5). Q. I've hit the Escape key so many times that I'm out of Asset Surveyor™. All I see is what looks like a DOS screen. How do I get back into the program? A. The MC-V is the only datalogger that actually lets you escape from Asset Surveyor and into the operating system. When this happens, simply highlight the Asset.x filename, and press RUN (F5). This will launch Asset Surveyor™ and return you to the main menu. Q. I need to change the configuration setup of my datalogger. I don't see Configuration on the main menu. How do I find it? A. On the keyboard of the MC-V there are two shift keys. The SH1 key is white. The SH2 key is yellow or gold color. Press the SH2 key and notice that the labels for the soft keys (F1-F5) change. F4 becomes CNFG, short for Configuration. Press F4 to make your changes. Q. I've been charging the MC-V internal battery each time I come in from the field. After doing this for a year, I've noticed my battery doesn't last very long now. Have I been charging the battery correctly? A. The internal battery for the MC-V is a ni-cad battery that has a memory. Example: if you go out with a fully charged battery and use the system for one hour, then come back into the office and begin charging the battery, you are sending the battery a message that it is only good for one hour. You have not used it to its fullest capacity. We recommend that you use the battery until the remaining power level is down to around 10%-15%. Only then should you charge it. By adopting this charging schedule, you will maximize battery life between charges and over the long haul. This battery only has so many charging cycles available. It is advisable to make the most of them by paying close attention to the battery level. If the internal battery is dead or does not hold a charge, you can get it replaced by going directly to CMT (Corvallis MicroTechnology) in Corvallis, Oregon, or to the Trimble dealer who sold you the unit. Usually the dealer has a battery replacement available. You will typically get faster service from a local dealer.
